About us

BrandStencil is a SaaS product that enables employees in organisations to easily create on-brand posters, leaflets and stationery from customisable templates. Our product saves our clients time and money every day, as well as protecting their investment in their brand.

BrandStencil has been developed by Electric Putty, a software studio based in central Hove. Most of our clients are within the not-for-profit sector and we’re passionate about helping them use digital tools to build big ideas and make a measurable impact on the world. Our clients include, British Red Cross, TUC, RSPB, Mind, Alzheimer's Society and Leonard Cheshire.

At the heart of the company ethos is a spirit of collaboration and autonomy, giving people freedom and trusting them to deliver first class work. We believe that a healthy work life balance is key to this and offer a range of flexible working options to everyone in our team to keep them happy, motivated and energised.

Diversity matters

We particularly welcome applications from under-represented groups in the tech industry including Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic candidates. We have previously invested in women switching careers to come into tech and we'd like to further diversify our team. For more about why diversity in tech matters read this.

About the job

We are looking for a creative and ambitious web developer to join our technical team. You will be working on the evolution of the BrandStencil platform, helping to shape it as an industry leading product with a beautiful interface and fantastic user experience.

You’ll also be working on new features on the BrandStencil website to attract visitors and improve conversion rates. In addition, you’ll be working on websites and applications we manage for our agency-side business clients.

The development landscape moves very fast and we’re constantly evolving our techniques. We welcome ideas from the entire team and are always happy to try new ideas.

Continuous professional development is fundamental to the way we work and we provide a supportive learning environment. We have well evolved coding standards and development processes and are always looking for ways to improve these; everyone’s input is valuable.

You will have scheduled ‘learning time’ each week as well as an annual personal improvement budget which you can use to learn and grow in your career.

About you

You’re not easily daunted, relishing a technical challenge whilst bringing creativity to problem solving. As well as being technically skilled you are an excellent communicator, have a pragmatic attitude and a genuine passion for delivering your best work.

Attention to detail is vital - the success of an interface depends on precision (and we have high standards) so you will have a keen eye for design and an instinct for UX.

Ideally you’ve worked in a development team in an agency or software product business for at least a year. If you’ve got more experience under your belt, great. If you have got less experience but you think you cut the mustard get in touch.

As a foundation you will have a proven track record with:

  • HTML
  • CSS / SCSS
  • Vanilla JavaScript
  • Version control (Ideally using Git)

Ideally you will also have experience with some of the following:

  • JS frameworks (React / Vue)
  • RESTful APIs
  • Build tools (Webpack / Gulp)
  • Writing tests

How to apply

If this sounds like you then we would love to hear from you. Please email jobs@brandstencil.com and convince us that you are perfect for this role. Please include a cover letter, CV and links to your LinkedIn profile and GitHub account (if you have one).

The closing date for applications is 28/08/2020. Please note, we will be interviewing as we receive applications so may appoint before this date as we would like someone in post as soon as possible. We will be in touch if we’d like to take your application further.

Agencies, you know the drill. Please save us all the time, thanks
