Privacy policy

This privacy policy is relevant for BrandStencil software services owned by BrandStencil Ltd.

We respect your privacy and do everything in our power to protect it. The following Privacy Policy describes our commitment to you and your data. If you have any questions please contact us.

This Privacy Policy is effective from 1 December 2017. We may amend it from time to time, so check this page to ensure that you are aware of any changes.

Data that we collect

  1. When you sign up for a BrandStencil account that requires a login, or are invited by a colleague, we store your name and email address.
  2. When you set or update your password in BrandStencil this is stored against your name. We use a powerful encryption process to protect this.
  3. When you create designs using the templating system in BrandStencil we store the content you enter (text, colour preference, uploaded images, etc.)
  4. When you use the ‘Email to a friend’ feature in we collect your name and email address, the recipient’s name and email address and your message. We regularly delete all details and do not store this information.
  5. If you are using our Buzz Social Posters function, when you agree that your poster can be used in the campaign gallery, it may become publicly available on the campaign organisation’s website(s). If you don't allow your poster design to be shared it will not be publicly available.
  6. As you use BrandStencil we store log files on the server. These logs are anonymous but may include information such as the page you requested, your Internet Protocol (“IP”) address, browser type and settings, referring / exit pages and URLs, number of clicks and how you interact with BrandStencil. Log files help us to monitor, analyze, improve and maintain the service and to diagnose and fix any Service-related issues.

Data management and disclosure

  1. Under no circumstances will we ever sell, distribute or lease any of your data to third parties.
  2. You own all rights to any assets and resources you have uploaded to BrandStencil.
  3. You own all rights to any assets and resources you have created using the template system in BrandStencil.
  4. When you delete a resource or a design from your list of Saved Materials in BrandStencil all associated data and files are permanently deleted.
  5. Account Administrators of your BrandStencil account have access to view your usage of the system, including all designs you create. This is necessary for them to manage and monitor usage trends which help them get the best from the system.
  6. BrandStencil employees (the makers of BrandStencil) may view your data but only as necessary;
    1. to maintain, provide and improve the service;
    2. to resolve a support request from you;
    3. if we have a good faith belief that such data is in violation of our Acceptable Use Policy;
    4. as reasonably necessary to allow us to comply with or avoid the violation of applicable law or regulation;
  7. We may also analyse your data in aggregate and on an anonymized basis in order to better understand the manner in which BrandStencil or Buzz Social Posters is being used.

Our cookie policy

BrandStencil uses cookies to enhance your experience. For example, if you choose to use the ‘remember me’ feature when you login to BrandStencil a cookie is set to store your login details.

The cookies we use include:

  1. Google Analytics - to store information on usage and help us understand how users interact with BrandStencil.
  2. Google Ads - this is used for remarketing purposes. Google serves up our ads in appropriate slots across the Internet to those who have previously visited the site for a time period of up to 90 days. This can be opted out of at anytime by visiting Google's Ad Settings.
  3. Laravel Session - this is set automatically by the Laravel framework BrandStencil is written with. It is used to store temporary information such as notification messages while you are using BrandStencil. This has a lifespan of 120 minutes.
  4. Laravel Session ID - this is used in conjunction with the above and links the data being stored with the current session. This has a lifespan of 1 minute.

How we protect your data

  1. We own outright all the technology and rights to the BrandStencil application.
  2. We go to every reasonably length to ensure that your data and resources are stored as securely as possible.
  3. All BrandStencil data is stored on our secure, UK based server leased from our hosting partner, Digital Ocean.
  4. Only the staff of BrandStencil have access to this server and will do so only as required to perform required maintenance or resolve an issue.
